Who knows about your blog?
I was having a conversation with two of my friends the other day about blogging. One of my friends (Emma) was saying that me and my other friend (Blair) should really start a blog, cause she really likes doing it etc. Little does she know that Blair and I already have been blogging for quite some time. So there we were, walking along, Blair and I glancing at each other now and again and laughing. We thought it was pretty funny.
But, it did get me thinking. Only my family knows about my blog. Not one of my friends, aside from Blair, know about my blog. She knows because, I don't know, we both started off doing blogs/sites at around the same time a few years ago, and I trust her not to tell anyone about my blog.
I don't think I tell anyone about my blog because it's just an opportunity for me to write and talk about the things I like, knowing that there won't be some kid from my school laughing at it and judging me. Unfortunately, that is what a lot of the people at my school are like. You go to school and they'll all be talking about what someone posted on formspring or Myspace. When people post links to their blogs, and then get negative comments about it or on it, I really feel sorry for them.
I just like having this blog as a seperate part of my life...does that make sense? I love doing it, and I don't want anything to happen that would make me want to stop. And I really value all you lovely readers of mine!
What I would like to know, is who knows about your blog? Do you like to tell everyone about it or prefer to keep it to yourself? I'd love to know what you all do :).

i am the exact same, not one other person that i know physically knows about my blog, its just a little thing that is all mine and i dont have to stress about if my friends like it or not, for me its best that way.
ReplyDeletealso, your blog is beautiful.xx
That's quite interesting actually. Everyone knows about my blog, and I don't know whether or not I get judged is becuase I don't feel as sensitive to it. Also occasionally someone from school does google my blog with my school name attached.. So like I just don't write such personal things on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm much the same. Only a few friends know about my blog. Even though my blog isn't that personal, I still feel awkward when someone else learns about it. I don't really know why. I just like it that way :)
ReplyDeletehmm, i think everyone knows about mine haha i posted a link about my skydiving so its pretty much common knowledge. i think youd be surprised how many people would love it and think its awesome :) especially because your blog is so lovely
ReplyDeletea couple of my friends know about mine and so does my family. Is nice to have something that is mine and i can say watever i want and not get judged. its nice to have something that is seperate to my life in that way,
ReplyDeleteby the way did you get my penpal letter?
Pearl xo
I just posted something similar to this the other day. I'd love to know who does read/view my blog as I've only told a few people I have a blog. Being judged is the worst. And you're right, having a place where you can't be judged is the best! It's the best compliment to have someone say they love your blog. Don't be afraid to share it. Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter! :)
ReplyDeleteNot many people in my rl knows about my blog, however, I do have a link from my facebook over to it.
ReplyDeleteI got a comment from a girl who went one class below me in primary school once, and it was really sweet, but it left me a little uneasy.
I feel the same way about having a "safe" place where I can just be myself 100% without worrying about what other people might think.
I guess I wish my "friends" in rl were just as nice as the ones I make through my blog. It's hard, isn't it? But I guess that I'll never make such friends in rl if I don't start to show my true self...
Mausumi
I feel exactly the same, haha.
ReplyDeleteMy sister knows about mine, and then about three friends know about mine, because I follow theirs.
:)
Good to see someone agrees.
xx
My blog is my own dream world with drawings and photos os clothes and me. I don't tell people if they do not ask. As you say, it's nice to have a little secret. I told people of your blog in my own a few days or weeks ago - hope thats okay! I love it!
ReplyDeleteEVERYONE knows about my blog lol!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I long for the days when none of my family knew about it..
My family know about it, but only my Mum reads it, lol
ReplyDeletea few close friends know about it, but again, only one or two read it...not their thing I guess!
All of my friends know about my blog now, and they tell other people about it! None of my family know of it though. And I had been blogging for about 6 months before I told anyone apart from my boyfriend x
ReplyDeleteI have a link on my facebook page. I told people when I started, and I tell my friends. But I'm not in school anymore so I don't have to deal with all the petty crap some kids dish out at that stage of their lives. So I'm lucky - I get to share the things that inspire me with my friends as well as other bloggers, which is the reason I started :)
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend and my best friend knows about my blog. They're writers~
ReplyDeleteMy sister knows I have one, but she doesn't read it.
Other than that, no one knows about my blog. Literally. No one comes and reads it.
oh well...it is still new-ish and therefore doesn't have a true aim (yet).
it's on my facebook. so people know about it...technically. or they could know about it. but i don't really talk about it a lot. is your blog free of your identity? like no face pictures or names?
ReplyDeleteMost of my friends now about mine, and I guess that´s the way I want it to be. Sure, it´s weird when people you don´t know that well suddenly comment on something they have seen on your blog and you didn´t even knew they read it, but on the other hand - it´s pretty cool, because people always just say nice things and it´s some kind of confession that they like to see what I´m up to and what I think...
ReplyDeleteI get where you're coming from! Like, my friends know all about my blog, and while it's lovely to know they take an interest, sometimes I really hate that they do because I feel restricted in what I can say and can't say and I've had to abondon some great posts because I know someone will take offence!
ReplyDeleteI am exactly the same! My friends don't really know about my blog; truly, my blog is my own little world outside of the life I'm currently living. Sometimes I get so caught up in the beautiful photography surrounding me and the inspiring words from other bloggers-- I never want to leave! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm more or less anonymous but I know that some of my friends know about my blog. I don't know if they read or not but sometimes they surprise me and make reference to it.
ReplyDeletei like the fact that my family and friends dont know about my blog. it lets me write little things freely without inhibition and makes my blog more of a diary that i share with the world
ReplyDeleteI wish that not as many people knew about my blog...but at the same time it's lots of fun! I think your blog is gorgeous and I would love it if you knew about mine :)
ReplyDeletenobody knows... not even me
ReplyDeleteoh wow, i had no idea! i think anyone that knows me knows about my blog- but it's connected to my business, which in it's nature has to be public. although it is weird when i hear about my mother in law or other family members reading it. oh well!
ReplyDeletesometimes i think about starting a secret, anonymous blog...
No one knows about my blog, not even my family... My boyfriend has seen me working on posts but he doesnt ask about it because he knows its something I want for myself...

great post! This is something I think a lot about too. Very few people know about my blog, and I've only told one best friend about it. It is linked to my Etsy, which is linked to my facebook, so I'm not exactly hiding it. But it has made me very uncomfortable when someone I worked with found and commented on it. It made me so self conscious of what I posted all the time! I always say that my blog is my escape, so I like to keep it away from my "real life" as much as I can. I like the anonymity.
ReplyDeleteReally nice pictures and great blog written.
ReplyDeleteMake website india
I'm a bit funny about this too!
ReplyDeleteI work in a PR agency, so if people at work knew about my blog I'd run the risk of being pestered to write about the brands we represent.
Only two of my friends know about it - one is a blogger herself but I haven't actually told her the URL - and the other is a technophobe so I know she's unlikely to find it.
I agree that it's nice to keep it separate from everything else.
